TRF3722: Interfacing TRF3722 with FPGA .

I want to interface TRF3722 with FPGA to send digital data for modulation. before ordering TRF3722 I want to know so specifications missing in datasheet.

1. Quadrature error of internal LO?

2. Max and min voltage value of I/Q inputs ?

3. Current values for I/Q inputs?

4. can i connect FPGA output directly to TRF3722 I/Q input?

Hi Kumar,

The TRF3722 need to be interfaced typically with a high performance DAC like the DAC348x family or the DAC38j84 family. See below app note for detail

The specifications that you are looking for can be found in the datasheet:

quadrature errors are listed as SBS and carrier feedthrough

You can calculate P1dB with referred to the input through OP1dB and Gain.

I didn't get answer of 3rd and 4th question.

I see that DAC is used to interface with TRF3722 ,but in our lab want make a PCB without DAC.

I want to apply square pulse at I/Q input from FPGA will this gonna cause some unwanted results or this will be fine?

Hi,

I do not think you can connect straight to the FPGA. Please review the app note attached earlier to see the interface options. Answers to #3 and #4 are within the app note that you have to study.
