HDC1080EVM: Exposure of chemicals: Benzene

Part Number: HDC1080EVM

Hi,

is it possible to use this device in a measurement chamber for a gas sensor where the VOC Benzene is tested. Thanks in advance!

  • Howdy Nurseda,

I'll verify this with our polymer expert.  Please note that we do publish a "storage and handling guideline" document that can be crossed reference when designing and manufacturing with the component.  Please refer to the following link:

I'm not sure if the VOC you've described is published, but will query our internal team and will get back shortly.

    Best Regards,

    Matt

  • Hi Matthew,

thank's for your quick reply. If this module is not suitable, can you recommend me another temperature and humidity sensor which is robust against chemical gases?

    Best regards,

    Nurseda

  • Hi Nurseda,

I'm unsure if there are humidity sensors in general that are not impacted by any VOCs or solvents. This largely has to do with the nature of the sensing polymer material located within the device. Humidity sensors typically have an exposed opening that allows water vapor and moisture to accumulate on the polymer material. If solvents or VOCs contaminate the exposed polymer, the device will not function as intended and will not give accurate readings.

    Best Regards,
    Matt
