MMWAVE-SDK: queries related to mmwave sdk output generation

Hi,

We are working in radar processing using mmWave SDK with AWR1642. Here are my queries:

1.Can we find the detected object in visualizer or in any other tool?

2. Does the output data is written in a binary file before it is shown in the demo visualizer?

3. Is it possible to determine the detected object as ex. pedestrain, vehicle, or a traffic pole?

Hi Varsha,

1,2. The detected objects are displayed in the mmWave Demo Visualizer. As of last week we have implemented a new feature to "record" the output data from the visualizer into a .csv file for easy viewing. This visualizer is available here: dev.ti.com/.../

3. This is definitely feasible on AWR1642 since the DSP makes clustering and classification of points possible. It will depend quite a bit on your scene but since we know things like a traffic pole is never moving or a vehicle is going to be faster and more radar reflective than a person, classification should not be too difficult for your application.

Hi Akash,

Thanks for the details. But presently, the output generated is shown in the visualizer as blobs(points), So is it the case the output is live-streamed to visualizer now and you have a new feature "record" to get it to the file? And how we can get to use the feature? As per your reply 3. is it like we can process on the output generated & then classify?

3. This is correct. The sensor will collect the Point Cloud data and then you can use the on-chip DSP to classify it into specific objects of interest.

Hi Akash ,

When I navigate to the link you provided, I always get the following error(shown in the attachement) even when I perform those steps. I also faced the same issue before, then tried with the offline version of demo visualizer. So can you provide me the link to the offline new visualizer?

Hi Varsha,

This has been a known issue but should have been fixed by now. Is this still happening to you?

If it is then you can find a temporary solution is to clear your browser's cookies. Let me know if you are still having issues here.

If you are still having trouble here then I'd recommend updating to the latest version of TI Cloud Tools.

Hi Akash,

Can you please just share me in detail what all are the things I need to update. My TICloudAgent Bridge extension version is 3.0.5

And is there any link to the offline version of the new visualizer?

Hi Varsha,

You can download the offline visualizer for use in the Cloud Tools Gallery: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/

You'll need GUI Composer Runtime in order to run the gui.
