Hi,

I try to use the mmWave Demo visualizer for AWR1843AOPEVM, but in the web the max range just is 50m.I find some article that say the max range is more far.How can I test that?

Hi,

The maximum range is dependent on

what type of object one is trying to detect
chirp configuration
how many tx antennae are enabled - is MIMO TDMA being used or are all Tx enabled at the same time?

We have performed some tests with AWR1843AOP and with MIMO TDMA configuration, we have detected cars at a maximum range of 50-60m

Thank for you respond,how far could AWR1843AOPEVM detect maximum range of child and adult, and, are AWR1843's and AWR1642's results the same?

Hi,

With MIMO TDMA configuration one should be able to detect a moving adult 20-25m. We have not tested with child

When enabling all Tx at the same time (Beamforming) the maximu range should increase. Probably around 40-45m at lease but we have not tested.

The AWR1642 and AWR1843 do not have integrated antenna. With the antenna provided on AWR1843BOOST EVM, for MIMO the performance should be a little better. For adult detection I would expect 30-35m

No,

For beamforming you can evaluate the MRR demo

You would need to download and unzip the entire mmWave Automotive toolbox.

Hi,

I tried to open MMR demo, but it showed up on the CCS that it was only for 18XX. How can I use it for AWR1842AOP or AWR1642?

I find SSR demo which include SRR80.h and SRR120.h. Does those enable beamforming?

For AWR1642BOOST you can use the SRR demo. It enables beamforming

For AWR1843AOP, you can run the MRR demo.

By default the MRR demo supports MRR and USRR subframes. You can rebuild the demo to support only MRR subframes.
