IWR6843: IWR6843 : minimum RF input power on RX1 - RX4 pins

Hello champion,

We are testing the antenna performance on their own board. I understand 10dBm is just a typical maximum received power of IWR6843. However, the minimum received power is never given.

Waht is minimum RF input power on RX1 - RX4 pins?Considering the attenuation, what is the lowest power that RX can recognize?

Hi Li Han,

Our data sheet specifies Noise Figure which is a measure of how much the input Signal to Noise Ratio degrades at the RX output chain. The Noise Figure in this case is 12 dB typical.

Could you provide other noise-related parameters of this chip? I did not find such parameters in the manual. Or can I understand that as long as there is a reflected signal, the receiving end can recognize it？No matter how weak the signal is.

I want to confirm whether the chip RX power has a range of received signal strength(dBm), whether there is a threshold value, below this signal value, the RX can not recognize the signal.I want to know if this value exists. Thanks.

Hello Han,

The detection or recognition of Rx signal is done by your application /algorithm used for object detection, not by our chip as such. From chip perspective we have out noise figure mentioned, so based on the SNR requirement of the algo to detect the signal , user can compute the minimum signal that can be detected.
