PGA300: PGA300 0.5-4.5VDC Output Reference Design

Part Number: PGA300

Hello there,

I'm working on pressure sensors and I've seen TI's very nice ICs. One of them is the PGA300.

My question will be as follows, in the application notes and reference designs, I have seen examples that give more 4-20mA current output. But I want to do my work with a 0.5V-4.5VDC output signal.

In this widely used system, I know that I will reach a conclusion very quickly with the notes and reference designs of TI.

I would be very grateful if you could help me with this and give advice.

Good work,

Ridvan

  • Hi Ridvan,

The applications section shows some typical application circuits describing the use of the PGA300 in 0-10V Absolute voltage output and 0-5V ratiometric voltage output. Either of these can be used as reference for a 0.5-4.5V output. If you do not want to use a ratiometric output the only change to the 0-10V reference circuit would be to select the 4V/V gain for the DAC output.

The PGA300EVM schematic which is available in the PGA300EVM User's Guide can also provide a reference for voltage output operation.

    Regards,

    Scott

  • Hello Scoot,

    Thank you for your answer.

I will try to obtain a 0.5V-4.5VDC output signal by referring to the circuit diagram that gives a 0-10V output signal. However, unfortunately, there is no spice model to simulate this circuit, which prevents me from reaching the result. Do you have any suggestion regarding this?

    Regards,

    Ridvan

  • Hi Ridvan,

There is no spice model because the PGA300 is a mixed signal device and we currently have no way to simulate both the analog and digital portions of the part in a single model. The device can be tested physically by using the PGA300EVM.
