TMP61-Q1: Thermal resistance of the package with metal surface

Part Number: TMP61-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP61

Hello team,

we would like to use TMP61-Q1 for temperature measuring with tight connection of metal surface. The metal sleeve, which will be attached to the thermistor is from aluminium, brass or stainless steel.

What will be the best type of packaging TMP61 to use for tight attach to metal sleeve? Is there any difference among DYA, LPG and DEC packaging?

What is the best type of packaging to use and which side of the thermistor? How to get the best thermal conductivity between plastic surface of thermistor and metal sleeve?

Thank you

Jiri

  • Hi Jiri,

The LPG package would be a good package for your application.

The difference between thermal resistance between front and back surface of the LPG package is negligible. For having a good temperature measurement, it's more important how they are mechanically/physically getting the thermal contact for the temperature measurement.

The thermal transfer between package and metal sleeve will mostly be affected by the thermal glue you choose to use to attach the LPG package exactly where you want on the metal sleeve. You can look at Loctite Output 315 thermal conducting glue for example.
