TDC1011: water level detection

Hi team,

I have two question about use ultrasonic to detect water level sensing.

(1) I want to know the detect range of TDC1011, but the datasheet is "8ms".

I am confused for this value, is 8m? or 8mm?  

(2) What's the difference between ''MSP430FR6043 integrated ultrasonic solution'' and ''TDC ultrasonic solution''?

What's the advantage of these two solution? which application are they fit in?

    Thank you for your question,

    The datasheet specification is correct, the maximum TOF for the device is 8 milliseconds. This is specified in this manner because the speed of sound is dependent on the medium the waves are transmitting through. For example, the maximum theoretical sensing range would be different in a water coupled system versus an air coupled system. 

    The TDC1011 is catered for high transducer frequency TOF evaluation (level sensing), whereas the MSP solution is more suited to flow metering. 

    In terms of device selection, the TDC10xx family of devices are now recommended for solutions requiring 1MHz+ transducer burst frequency. Otherwise, please use the selection table included in this E2E FAQ for selecting the proper device based on application: E2E FAQ Post.
