IWR6843AOPEVM: Can't connect data port COM

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi,

unfortunately this is another thread about not being able to get the demo running.

I have an ES2.0 Rev. F device. The software is C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_10_1\labs\Area_Scanner\prebuilt_binaries\area_scanner_68xx_demo_aop.bin

I followed all the steps defined here , unfortunately website is stuck. I am successfully able to flash the device, i switch SOP mode to functional try to send a config, but nothing happens. threads I read through:

Here --> tl;dr; a fix for ES1.0, i have 2.0, pressing the config button which i did

Here --> tl;dr; redirects to thread number 1

Here --> tl;dr; redirects to thread number 1

Here --> ES1.0, N/A

Here --> tl;dr; both ports were connected, user did not press send config button

My device manager:

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated Slight smile

  • Hi Phillip,

    First I am going to ask you to check that no other applications on your computer are using the data port (an open teraterm window or another window with the demo visualizer up could cause this).

    If nothing else is using your data port, please make sure your device is in functional mode and you pressed the NRST button before trying to send the config file.

    If the problem persists try unplugging your device from power and from the computer and closing out of the demo visualizer. Then plug the device back into the computer and to power (keeping it in functional mode), press the NRST button on the device, pull up the demo visualizer and try connecting again. Sometimes all it needs is a fresh start.

    Which binary did you flash the device with?

    Thank you,

    Angie Mitchell

  • No other apps are using the port. The binary is the following:

    C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_10_1\labs\Area_Scanner\prebuilt_binaries\area_scanner_68xx_demo_aop.bin

    The interesting part that the height demo worked with the device, so it seems like a software issue, i will try using a different computer.

    I am currently developing a device, is it possible to have one of your engineers sign an NDA and answer some of my questions for my use case? Is this a service you provide? Without moving the device the height demo shows a big difference for consecutive readings, what can I do to improve that? I was using this demo:

    dev.ti.com/.../

  • Hi Philip,

    Can you please try flashing the device with the OOB demo image (mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_10_1\labs\Out_Of_Box_Demo\prebuilt_binaries) and then try using the demo visualizer. This is the visualizer for our out of box demo not a visualizer for the area scanner demo.

    For additional questions feel free to make new e2e threads or reach out to your local TI sales representative.

    Thank you,

    Angie

  • Thank you for your response,

    how can i find a loal sales represantitve in Poland? I bought the device directly from you

  • Hi Philip,

    That is not the purpose of this forum but feel free to continue making e2e threads here for questions.

    Thank you,

    Angie
