Greetings,
We are evaluating the possibility of using TMP112 in place of our usual choice TMP116 for a battery-powered product of ours.
We have a few follow up questions listed below:
There are more peripherals on the same I2C of ours other than the TMP112. In low-power mode, they are inactive as well. Our use case is to keep the TMP112 etc in low power mode and only use it in case of an ALERT instance or during the normal accusation cycle.
Thanks
Hello,
Thank you for posting to the Sensing forum.
The TMP112 will consume less power in one-shot temperature measurement mode. In this mode of operation, the sensor will be set to shutdown mode unless a one-shot command is issued to make a temperature measurement.
The Alert output will assert if there is a THIGH or TLOW condition during the one-shot temperature conversion, but it will not be updated while the device is in shutdown mode. While the bus is inactive the shutdown current is typically less than 1 µA. The Low-Power Design Techniques application report has further details on power consumption in temperature sensing applications.
Best regards,
Nicole
