TMAG5273EVM: Trouble connecting to this board w/TI-SCB

Part Number: TMAG5273EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TI-SCB, TMAG5170UEVM

Hello,

I have this TMAG5273EVM + TI-SCB. Operating environment is Windows 11 / Firefox 101.0.1.

Instructions followed from https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiBk6yk7L_4AhUGMlkFHYdPDHUQFnoECAoQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ti.com%2Flit%2Fpdf%2Fslyu058&usg=AOvVaw10aHXlAeRwMpAbPZAEcGNm

Device Manager shows Tiva Device Firmware Update.

The GUI doesn't connect to the device. After reading this forum, I downloaded sbac295a.zip.

Running in a command prompt as administrator gives:

`

MODE E4xx USB
Found device at USB port with device bus number : 0x01
        and device address is: 0x0c
        Found DFU interface : 0x00
[ERROR_MESSAGE]LIBUSB_ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED
RX_DATA_BLOCK_FAST TMAG5273EVM_FW.txt
Read Txt File  : C:\Users\nick\Downloads\TMAG5273EVM BSL Batch File\scripts\TMAG5273EVM_FW.txt

`

I've tried this on two different machines (same OS + browser). Got the same result twice.

  • Hi Nick,

Before you loaded the firmware on the SCB, did you press the two points shown below:

After doing this, you should see only one LED ON instead of the two LEDs that are normally ON.  After you have verified that only one of the LEDs is ON, please reload the firmware again by double clicking the .bat file.

    Regards,

    Mekre

  • My issue is not resolved. I posted a video about my troubles here: https://youtu.be/rObJQCrWhR8

Below, I noted that I manually associated the PAMB driver. This allowed the firmware update to complete normally.

I am still not able to use the TI_SCB GUI. That UI says the device is not connected. Oddly, the moment I *disconnect* the USB cable, a box pops up "CONNECTION FAILURE". It's talking, but not correctly.

On to the fix for the missing TIVA driver:

I followed these directions to associate the PAMB drivers with the TIVA device in Device Manager. Now it works.

  • Hello. My design is stalled currently, and I'm being asked for my progress update. I documented exactly what is happening in my video above. Please respond with ideas to resolve the issue.

  • Hi Nick,

Sorry for the delay here.  When the "This resolved my issue" button was pressed,  it marked the thread as closed, so I did not see it.  Your post from today opened the thread back up again.

From the video, you are not actually using the TMAG5273EVM.  You are using the TMAG5170UEVM, which is a different EVM with a different device and a different GUI.  Please follow the directions in the TMAG5170UEVM User's Guide for this EVM.  This User's guide has the link to the correct GUI.  Here is a quick start video for the EVM you actually have: https://training.ti.com/getting-started-tmag5170evm

If you loaded firmware onto the SCB, you will need to update the firmware.  Please make sure to short the two test points near PK1 and PK2 of the header pins (see Figure 4-3) with a pair of tweezers (or wire) while pressing the RESET button.  You should then be able to update the firmware from the GUI or by doing it manually by following the steps in Section 4.2.1.2.1.

    Regards,

    Mekre

  • Mekre,

Apologies are mine. I ended up with the wrong firmware on the device. One mistake led to many errors. Thanks for sorting out the problem, and apologies for wasting your time on this.
