HDC1080: What happens if I operate at 2.5V?

Hi,

Due to component supply issues and would like to operate the HDC1080 at 2.5V. I know the datasheet states a minimum of 2.7V supply but what would happen if I tried to operate at 2.5V?

I also see there is a newer part available, the HDC2080 which will operate down to 1.62V but this would require changes in both PCB and firmware.

Hello,

2.5V is outside the minimum operating voltage supply range. While the device may operate, we cannot guarantee functionality or accuracy when operating outside of the recommended operating conditions.

Unfortunately, we do not have a drop in replacement for the HDC1080 with wider voltage range.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Whilst I didn't expect any guarantees when operating outside the specified voltage range I was hoping you might be able to confirm if, for example, the device I2C would continue to operate and the sensor work but with unknown accuracy.

Hello,

Sorry for the long delay. The datasheet has all parameters guaranteed at 2.7V minimum and we cannot guarantee operation outside of the spec. It is possible that the device will work just fine at 2.5V, but we do not test down to this voltage so I really can't give you guidance on using the device outside of the datasheet spec.
