PGA900EVM: GUI Initializing does not finish

Part Number: PGA900EVM

Hi there

I try to use the PGA900 EVM GUI. I already found the forum entry https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/875211/pga900evm-gui-startup-problem-initializing but it does not solve my problem. The folder and the .ini-file is created when I install the GUI but the GUI does not create a new one when i start it after renaming it.

I use Windows 10 Enterprise 21H2. Is it possible to run the GUI on Windows 10?

Best regards

Sebastian

  • Hi Sebastian,

Like Scott alluded to in the other thread, this usually happens because of permissions for the computer. Can you completely uninstall the program, remove or delete and left over files or folder, and run the installer as an administrator? I've even had some users need to uninstall the labview runtime engine and related labview items to get it to work. Be sure to start the GUI as an administrator as well.

Edit: it is possible to run the GUI on windows 10, my machine is windows 10 as well.

  • Hi Cole

    Thanks for your quick reply.

As you said, it is something specific to my computer. I tried one of the old machines with Windows 7 and it worked with the same software I installed on my Windows 10 computer. Now I have tried as you said. Uninstalled the PGA900 GUI and LABView Runtime. Then reinstalled both with admin rights and started PGA900 with admin rights. This does not change the behaviour. Can we find out where the GUI has the problem on startup?

    Best regards

  • Hi Sebastian,

Can you send a screenshot of the install folder?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Cole

Here you see the C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\PGA900 folder:

  • Hi Sebastian,

Can you install this for me as well? I see some files you are missing that are related to the USB2ANY:  https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc695

I'd also add in these files into the folder as well.

    lvinput.dll

    ftd2xx.dll

    USB2ANY_2_6_1_0.txt

  • Hi Cole

I downloaded the USB2ANY Explorer and installed it with admin rights and tested it and it detects the Board.

I copied the dll's and the text file to the PGA900 folder and started the PGA900 GUI again. Unfortunately it did not change the behavior of the software. It stays at the initializing. Can we find out where exactly the software freezes?

  • Hi Sebastian,

Without replication on our side, there's not much we can do to figure out why the software is failing. I'm not sure what else we can do if providing the extra files did not work and if you've confirmed the USB2ANY is correctly connected.

  • Hi Cole

I analyzed the process monitor for the PGA900 GUI and it seems it crashes while access the lab view folder. There are a  few versions of lab view runtime 2012. Which one do you have installed on your Windows 10 machine?

  • Hi Sebastian,

    Here's my labview runtime engines:

Found this excerpt from one of the user guides:

Usually the GUI prompts you to download a runtime engine automatically following install. My guess is that this would be the one:
