AWRL6432: Does AWRL6432 support 400khz I2C speed?

Part Number: AWRL6432

Hello team,

Based on my testing, 400khz I2C communication has high failure rate while 100khz is okay. According to our datasheet, some part says it supports up to 400khz and some part says TBD. Does thie device support 400khz I2C communication?

Regards,

Victor Park

  • Some additional info from email:

I didn’t test it on our EVM but I’m not sure if it is necessary. Please refer attached waveform. Channel 3 and 4 is I2C line at AWRL6432. With exact same I2C signal(0x20 7bit address), sometimes AWRL6432 responds with ACK and sometimes AWRL6432 doesn’t respond(NACK). When I changed I2C speed from 400khz to 100khz, the issue is disappeared. As I scoped I2C signal at AWRL6432 device, I think testing same thing on our EVM wouldn’t be different in terms of I2C signal.

     Ok

Again, scope channel 3 and 4 is I2C signal at AWRL6432 side. Channel 1 and 2 is remote side I2C over SERDES.  Just FYI.

PC to (UART) to STmicro MCU to (I2C) to SERDES to (coaxial cable serial communication) to SERDES to (I2C) to AWRL6432

Channel 3 and 4 in attached scope picture was captured at Yellow highlight above.

Channel 1 and 2 was captured between STmicro MCU and SERDES.
