TMAG5173-Q1: TMAG5173 vs TMAG5170

Part Number: TMAG5173-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMAG5170, , TMAG5170-Q1

Hi,

435 / 5,000

I am preparing to use a 3D Hall effect sensor = comparing TMAG5173 and TMAG5170 there are a few differences: 5170: SPI, 8 pins, better accuracy and speed; 5173: I2C, 6 pins, slower, lower accuracy, voltage and power. The transmission standard determines the package size, pins, and speed. Are there any other differences in the sensor structure or parameters? Which is better in terms of long-term stability and SIL-related applications?
  • Hi Jaroslaw,

Thanks for posting on the Sensors Forum! Both the TMAG5173-Q1 and the TMAG5170-Q1 have systematic capability up to ASIL D and Hardware integrity up to ASIL B.

In terms of other differences, some of the major differences between these devices include:

The direction of sensitivity (in section 7.3 of the datasheets), noise, and sensitivity error (section 6 of the datasheets). Other magnetic characteristics do differ in these devices as shown in section 6 of the datasheets.

Additionally, the TMAG5173-Q1 is higher accuracy than the TMAG5170-Q1.

    Best Regards,

    Celeste
