HDC2022: Coating

In the PCBA process, there is a coating on the PCB board. is there no problem when this coating on HDC2022 surface?

    Hi Brian,

    There likely will be a problem with pouring the coating over the HDC2022. The HDC2022 senses RH through humid air passing through the IP67 filter, so pouring the coating over it will reduce or completely block its ability to sense the humid air. Since the filter is IP67 rated, it is unlikely that the coating will pass through the filter and enter the sensor area. However, if it does, having the coating in the sensor area would likely act as a chemical contaminant which will negatively impact RH sensing performance, or even damage the HDC2022.

    if you want to use this sort of coating, I recommend the HDC2021, which does not have the IP67 filter but does have a removeable piece of tape over the sensor area. This tape is to protect the sensor during the coating process. Once the coating is poured, you can then just remove the tape so the sensor is now exposed ot the air and not coated.
