TMP422-Q1: I2C Data Hold Time Inquiry

Hi Team,

May I know why the t(HD;DAT) in TMP422-Q1 datasheet requires 25ns?

For other device, the min requirement should be 0ns.

So we're curious about why this one is different from other devices.

Since this parameter require MCU(Host ->R/W -> Slave) to follow so I believe we can adjust the Pullup resistance/MCU internal driver to change that slew rate(including PCB parasitic capacitance).

Hello Evan,

Please follow the 25ns spec. You can increasing the slew rate but be aware of violation the fall and rise time. Try to manipulate the clock to meet the specs.

Hi Evan,

I cannot provide the details to why this spec differs from the commercial part. I want to highlight a key point below:

TMP422-Q1 was designed to be "I2C compatible", but not necessarily compliant. This means that it meets some, but not all, of the requirements set forth by the I2C standard. As long as the host/controller specs can be adjusted, it should be able to meet both the compliance requirements and the requirements set by the TMP422-Q1 datasheet.
