LM95234: Whether LM95234 is software compatible with LM95214?

Part Number: LM95234
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM95214

Hi team

If customer is using LM95214 and try to replace with LM95234 for higher supply range.

Does customer need to change software or anything?

Looks like they are P2P and the block diagram and register summary are same.

Except the supply range , what are the difference between these two device?

Thanks

  • Hello Irene,

LM95214 and LM95234 are pin to pin compatible and they are software compatible as well. The main difference is that the LM95234 includes TruTherm BJT beta compensation technology that allows sensing of Intel processors 90 nm or 65 nm process thermal diodes accurately. LM95234 has an extra registers "Diode Mode Select' in location 0x30 and "Diode Model Status" in location 0x38.  "Diode Mode Selects" allows to enable the selection of a Intel 90nm/65nm technology or a MMBT3904. "Diode Mode Status" allows reading when a channel has the TruTherm enabled. These resisters do not interfere with registers within the LM95214.
