Hello,

On our board, we have a TMP100 sensor with one pull-up resistor on ADD0, and ADD1 is floating.

Therefore, we expected a slave address of 1001111 (0x4F). During our test procedure, to test if the sensor is properly connected, we check if there is a device on the I2C bus with the address 0x4F.

In our last PCB batch, the pull-up resistor was not mounted (EMS issue). However, during our tests, the device was still detected with the slave address 0x4F on each board. So, I would like to know if this invalid combination of ADD0 and ADD1 (both floating) results in the 0x4F address? as it is not mentioned in your datasheet. In that case, we are not able to detect this default configuration.

    I can confirm that with both address pins floating the device will default to 0x4F according to its internal logic. You are correct, you would not be able to detect the EMS issue unless you implement some type of detection circuitry or visual inspection (if possible) but as for the TMP100 functionality, the device would not be affected.
