AWR1843AOP: About structure and soldering

Part Number: AWR1843AOP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , AWR6843AOP

Hello,

I have the following questions about AWR1843AOP and AWR1843AOPEVM gerber file.

1) Is the rectangle "exposed die" in the bottom side of AWR1843AOP package on datasheet page89? ...just like AWR6843AOP

2) It does't need soldering in the solder mask opening in AWR1843AOPEVM gerver file just like AWR6843AOP.

Is my understanding correct?

Please advise.

  • Hello,

Yes, this is the exposed die.

It depends on your thermal requirements. You can have a solder mask opening and then put a TIM between the die and PCB to help improve the heat transfer out of the die. It is not necessarily required for functionality.
