I have a project under development to monitor some information in an industrial environment in which the sensors are embedded inside the board. But I will need to add a modification that allows non-invasive readings of sensors already installed in companies that follow the 4 to 20ma reading standard. I thought about using the hall effect sensor but as I haven't worked with this technology I still have doubts as to whether I would be able to make accurate readings within this current range. can you help me?

    Thank you for your post. I do not see a way that our TMCS1108 can meet your design goals.

    Our TMCS devices are best suited for higher current applications where the isolation and the higher current capability are required.

    With the offset error in the 10s of mA range and the noise density in 100s of uA/sqrt(hz), It would be difficult to use the TMCS11xx and output acceptable data with the levels of input offset current and noise.

    Does this make sense?

  • Ok, and using a sensor with Rsense, which would be the most suitable for this application, considering the smallest Rsense possible?

    This usually depends on your power dissipation requirements. As a rule of thumb, smaller is usually better for more power delivery to your load.
