The data dump has a graph but no measurement and diagnosis or tabulated results have a value. Other than connecting the device to the transducer, what else do I need to do to make it generate a value?

    Thanks for posting to the sensors forum! Please make sure that the device is configured appropriately. Some things to look out for is the excitation frequency, this needs to match the transducer that is being used, this will automatically change your BPF as well. Also ensure that you have a decent amount of output pulses configured at the beginning then you can fine tune this later, other one is to make sure that VDRV_HI_Z is not in Hi-Z at startup this will always start in Hi-Z mode.

    Thanks for reply. I just want to experiment with the detection range and resolution using the transducer enclosed with this development board. The frequency I want to use is 40 kHz, and there are no other conditions. If I conduct the experiment considering only the frequency, there are many errors in TOF and distance. I would appreciate it if you could let me know what else I need to consider to verify the detection range and resolution other than the frequency.

    I am repeatedly conducting several experiments based on these experimental settings and REG_MAP settings. I am actually conducting an experiment with the aim of deriving an accurate TOF value at a distance of about 3cm, but when I check Data Dump, I can see that the distance is about 1m. I wonder why my TOF causes such a big error. If there is an error in the REG_MAP setting or the experimental setting, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. There is nothing I have to use except the center frequency of 40kHz.

    Thank you for the patience while we were out of office. 3cm is a very small range for a monostatic ultrasonic configuration. When you excited the ultrasonic transducer to generate the ultrasonic pulse the transducer is saturated so event though the signal may be returning to the sensor it is not able to distinguish what it has received, this is usually referred to as the blind zone. Typically for this type of small range measurement you would require to use 2 separate sensors. One that is used strictly for TX and one for RX.

    Some additional comments on the configurations you have selected: the number of pulses you send out directly impacts the minimum sensing distance on a monostatic setup. The more pulses you send out the longer it will take for the voltage to decay at the sensor so that it is ready to receive a pulse. Also if the voltage is larger in this case you have 20V selected then a larger voltage will also impact this as it takes longer for the large voltage level to decay.

    If you are only trying to sense a small range you could probably disable some stages of the log amp and this should help you improve the noise.

    Yes if you want to separate the TX and RX transducers then you can remove the R12 you circled in yellow and connect the RX transducer as marked in your image.

    Just note that this isn't a true bistatic system as a true bistatic system requires a separate device. If you share the same TUSS4470 you still have some noise that internally couples into the RX path from the TX path. The transmission noise is decreased but its not quite eliminated.
