MMWCAS-DSP-EVM: How to match TDA2EVM (MMWCAS-DSP-EVM) with LP-XDS110

Part Number: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA2, , AWR2944, LP-XDS110, TMDSEMU110-U

Tool/software:

Hi team:

I have a TDA2EVM (MMWCAS-DSP-EVM), and I'm struggling with how to debug it. Regarding the debugger, I have an LP XDS110, which I used previously to debug the AWR2944. I noticed that the XDS110 can debug the TDA2, which excites me. However, the TDA2EVM has a 60-PIN MIPI interface, while the LP XDS110 has a 20-PIN interface. What kind of adapter should I buy to complete the debugging process? If you can provide a purchase link, that would be even better.

Please do not recommend the XDS560. I know it's excellent, but it's too expensive (just for me).

Thank you very much

Simon

  • Simon,

    Is this what you have?

    Or this?

    https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU110-U

If it is the first one that is really just meant for use with connectivity LaunchPads that have that custom 20pin connector or microcontrollers that can be debugged using a Cortex 10 pin debug connector.

I do not know of an adapter that would go from the cortex 10 out on the LP-XDS110 to the MIPI60 on the TDA2EVM.

If you have the full XDS110 (TMDSEMU110-U) then there is an adapter that can go from the native cTI20 header on the XDS110 to the MIPI60 on the TDA2EVM.  This one from Blackhawk would work.  https://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/store/12212.html.  These adapters are pretty low volume so they end up being expensive.

Basically that EVM is designed to be used with high end debug probes like an XDS560v2 or Lauterbach so getting it to work with something else is a bit of a pain.

    John

  • I have the first one.https://www.ti.com/tool/LP-XDS110.

Thank you for your response. Currently, I only have the LP-XDS110. Even if I plan to purchase the TMDSEMU110-U, it will take about a month to complete the procurement process through my advisor. It's quite frustrating. Can you provide some alternative solutions for me to try in the meantime?

  • Simon,

Not sure what more I can help with. Would the procurement of the adapter be as slow?  If it is faster you could order the adapter and then try to connect jumper wires from the large 20pin interface on the LP-XDS110 to the pins on the adapter.  The pins are labelled on the underside of the LP-XDS110.

    Regards,

    John

  • i will try

    thanks Johns
