MMWAVEICBOOST: XDS110 Not found with USB connection

Hi,

I think the MMWAVE IC BOOST uses the XDS110 debugger chip. Do you have the drivers for XDS110 installed on your computer? They're in the setup instructions here.

Yes I made sure to install the firmware. The device does not register when plugged into the computer. Windows does not see the device at all, even as an unknown device.

Hi, yes I tried three different power supplies:

5V/40A

5V/35A

5V/3A --> This is the one I have been using.

Validated all power supplies with volt meter, did not validate current draw.

Any updates on this? I have validated that the board is pulling current with a bench power supply. The IWR6843AOPEVM works on it's own, and the demo from https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/ver/3.6.0/ works just fine.

Are you seeing this issue with other mmWave ICBOOST boards?  It may just be an issue with the board and you may have to use another one in case the XDS port is not functional anymore.  I would also try using a different cable to see if it is just an issue with the connection between the board and the PC.

These are the only boards I have. I have not ordered any other boards. I think the XDS port is not functioning. TI customer support told me to get a replacement I needed someone from TI E2E to sign off on it.

The cable works fine, as shown above, the FTDI port works with the same cable, and I have used this cable to validate other hardware as well.

Understood.  Please let us know what results from using a different ICBoost board, but I would also double check all the switch settings against the user guide, and if they all match then I would try a different ICBoost.

Hello Tomas.

Apologies for the delay, but if you could try one more thing, could you move the last 2 S2 switches down as shown in the EVM setup operational modes guide?  I know it says N/A, but just to make sure everything matches.  If that still doesn't work, while plugged in, can you try running the xdsdfu.exe tool that is included in any CCS installation?  This tool will detect if there is an XDS device plugged in and will tell if there is something wrong with the XDS port on the device.  You can find this tool at <ccs-install>\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110.
