Hi,

The first step is to make sure that the COM Ports are displayed in Device Manager.

I recommend using google site site search for similar questions.

Here is an example

Hi Cesar,

As per the above search suggestion(AWR1843BOOST) - I changed SOP switches(SOP2 = 0, SOP1 = 0, SOP0 = 1) but still no COM ports are displayed. I don't have any physical serial communication hardware(USB to serial adpater) , so I relied on some emulation software , like XDS emulation software provided by TI to get the COM ports. 

Search on - IWR6843ISK - is asking to install: CP210x USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers- this doesn't seem  like relevant to my issue (different hardware).

Hi,

The issue is related to the XDS Emulation Package. 

Can you please install the ftdi drivers provided in this version of the mmWave SDK?

C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\ftdi

Sorry,

The AWR1642BOOST-ODS EVM does not have an FTDI chip, so there is no need for the FTDI drivers. 

Only the XDS Emulation package is needed.

Make sure you download the 64-bit package

Yes I downloaded 64 bit XDS Emulation package (shown below) - when I reported this issue. 

Do I need to get XDS110 debug probe (physical hardware) in order for the XDS emulation package to work? I don't have physical XDS110 debug probe

No, you don't. The XDS 110 controller is integrated on the board.

Is this a new board? It is possible that the board is defective

This is a new board from TI directly,  I bought  it a few years ago, but using for the first time now. Are you suggesting me to get a new board,  as it could be defective?

Did you flash the emulator firmware? It happened in the past that the manufacturer forgot to flash the emulator firmware.

I haven't flashed emulation firmware,  I don't have access to serial port. In order to flash any firmware using Uniflash , I need to have access to serial port. Please let me know how do i proceed? Can TI flash the emulation software if I send the EVM back to TI? Please guide further - how tp flash emulation firmware without serial port?

Hi,

If this is not working, than probably the board is defective.

Just curious. This is a very old board that is only supported by a single demo (object detection)
