Dear Technical Support Team,

 

Following calculation tool shows how to calculate L for Spring.

It doesn't include wire diameter. It doesn't affect L calculation, does it?

    the calculation is an approximated model, but it is typically accurate enough for inductive sensing applications. Note that the purpose of the equation above is to find out if a certain spring can be used, and to approximate the % inductance change. More accurate models to varying degrees of complexity and accuracy are available online.

    There are several terms that the above equation neglects (wire thickness, oscillation frequency, length/diameter ratio), but the effect is typically very small for most springs compared to changes in diameter, number of turns, or length.

    ⇒Does it mean WEBENCH Coil Designer?

        It seems that it doesn't includes spring on Select Coil Type.

        Can I use Circular instead of Spring like following?

        But at first , I'd like to use a spring calculation on excell.

    Webench does not currently support springs.
    Our calculator spreadsheet has a tab on springs with the equation above: www.ti.com/.../slyc137
