DRV5053-Q1: Wide possible sensitivity range

Good day,

I am currently looking at the the DRV5053-Q1 VA version for industrial use. Our tests have been quite promising but we are worried about minimal and maximal sensitivity values writen in the datasheet, according to which the sensitivity can vary from -45 mT/mV to -140 mT/mV.

Do these values correspond to products on reception, or after a certain amout of time ? What makes such a large sensitivty difference ? It does not seem to be input voltage or temperature.

Another question, how does the sensitivity vary over time (if not related to the previous question) ?

Hello Cailyn,

The range in sensitivity is simply a correlation to products on reception. DRV5053 is really not a precision device regardless of temperature. If tighter sensitivity ranges are needed, I would recommend using the DRV5055-Q1. The device also includes "sensitivity temperature compensation for magnets" (STC) equal to 0.12%/C. Basically, it compensates for the drift in magnetic field strength of magnets with temperature.

The sensitivities of these devices should not vary much over time if no Absolute Maximum ratings are being violated. You can actually view estimations of TI device lifetimes using the "PPM/FIT/MTBR estimator" here: www.ti.com/.../estimator.tsp
