hello,
I have just got a AFE5809EVM and a TSW1400 EVM, and I am trying to carry out experiments in the AFE5809EVM Evaluation Module user guide(slou338a). I have big trouble in using the AFE5809EVM GUI.
My set up is exactly as Figure 10, I can capture the input 10MHz sine wave in TSW1400 EVM GUI as figure 11, when I disable the DIG_DEMODULATOR . However, when I enable it, I often get 0 sequences, i mean if I change a register value, the codes I get in the TSW1400 EVM GUI shifts from sine wave to all zeros, but if I change the register value back, it is still all zeros.
Sometimes I can get the 10MHz sine wave(if I am lucky), it is always in 2's comp. and changing the ADC output FORMAT or BIT ORDER have no effect.
There are some demodulator test modes in the GUI, but I have NOT successed in carrying out any of them. IT always generate some unreasonable results that are hard to explaine to me. Also I can't get any data in the AFE5809EVM GUI by clicking "TSW CAPTURE" button.
can someone give me a step by step guide for conducting the experiment and tell me where I was wrong, and how to change the demodulator registers in the AFE5809EVM GUI? that would be of great help. Thanks a lot!
Hi,
thanks for the reply. Now I have went through some of the tests in the GUI, but still have some problems.
1.I can capture the TSW wave in the 5809 GUI now. I installed these two GUIs in different locations ,turns out I have to manually change the dir of the datapath in the 5809 GUI.
2. Still I can't read register data in the 5809 GUI.
3. I am sure that there are some bugs in the 5809 GUI, for example, the shift_scale_en checkbox dosen't work.
4. I am not able to successfully get the decimation filter coefficients in the coefficients test mode, I always lost the first row(relpaced by 8 zeros). However, if I turn the 5809 into the M=4 both I and Q test mode, and then enable the COEF_TM register bit, I am able to get all of the 32 coefficients.
5. the 5809 GUI is still not so friendly to me, some times I get data that I think is not consistent with what it meant to, especially for the modulator_bypass, full_lvds, decimation_bypass .... registers. have you ever fully tested all these settings?
6. Right now what I am really care about the most is the power comsuption of 5809. As I have mentioned in one email, it is much higher for the 5809EVM than in the datasheet.
Thanks you!
Regards!
