OPT3001: OPT3001 calibration question

Part Number: OPT3001

customer calibrate OPT3001 by Konica CL-200A. they reported the reading value in Konica CL-200A and OPT3001 has a offset. (Konica CL-200A shows 480 lux, But OPT3001 read is 450~460lux).

1)Do we use the same tool to perform calibration?

2) How to perform OPT3001 calibration step by steps.

  • Hi Peter,

I will get back on this by this week.

  • Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay here. Yes, if they are looking for accuracy better than the +/-10% in the datasheet then a calibration makes sense. Calibration can be done with any lux meter they just need to check that the lux meter meets their requirements in terms of optical properties and accuracy. First I would double check that their test comparing lux meter to OPT3001 reading is correctly set up. We have a doc that is a work in progress, but I will send you a draft over email. It contains details on how the test setup should be to get accurate readings.

For how to do the calibration, we have some info available online in the OPT3001 app note section "2.1.3 Lux-Meter Based Approach" here www.ti.com/.../sbea002a.pdf

The online doc focuses on calibration for window materials, but the section I referred to will work for their case as well. The draft doc I will be sending you over email builds on this and provides more details.

    Best,

    Alex
