Hello support team,
I receive some questions from my customer, could you support.
*OPT3001 has two integration time mode, 100msec and 800msec. Are the quiescent current on 100msec and 800msec same during operation?
*They would like to reduce quiescent current as possible. Do you have any usage recommendation?
*If OPT3x series has lower quiescent current option than OPT3001, please introduce.
*Is INT pin used as indicator for high and low limit threshold only? Or does INT pin have any other usage?
Thanks,
Koji Ikeda
Hi Koji,
1) Are they looking for active current or shutdown current? It should not effect, but I will double check on this.
2) Current is extremely low for this device. If you see active max current is 3.7 uA and typical is much lower. Especially comparing with competition sensors ours is very low power - this includes the entire OPT300x series. What is their target for current consumption?
3) All OPT300x series has similar power consumption
4) There are numerous ways to use int pin. For full info please see the interrupt reporting modes in the datasheet. In addition to threshold INT pin can trigger every time a measurement is ready so MCU doesn't have to poll the sensor. There are also a number of different configurations for triggering.
Best,
Alex
Hello Alex-san,
Thank you very much for your support. For quiescent current difference between 100msec and 800msec, they need active current. Could you confirm?
Thanks,
Koji Ikeda
Hi Koji-san,
Okay to get back to you by end of this week on this?
Best,
Alex
Hi Koji-san,
Still looking into this. I was hoping to directly pull data on this, but looks to be needing a deeper look. I will follow up with an update this week.
Best,
Alex
Alex-san,
OK, please let me know your feedback by end of this week.
Thanks,
Koji Ikeda
Hi Koji-san,
Conversion time setting is not expected to change the device current consumption significantly.
Best,
Alex
