LM77: supply difference for LM77CIM-3/LM77CIM-5

Hi there:

I'd like to check a supply voltage issue for LM77

Due to the supply voltage could up to 6.5V for LM77.

Could we use 5V to support LM77CIM-3 for higher supply voltage?

Hello Kay,

5V would be fine as the supply voltage for the LM77. The LM77 recommended supply voltage range is from 3V to 5.5V, as long as you are within this range the datasheet specifications are valid. Going above 6.5 V may cause damage to the device.

hi Brandon,

there is two version for LM77,

I think the correct questions is LM77CIMX-5 can support 3.3V? while datasheet indicate LM77CIMX-5 version only support 5V+-10%?

Hello Bonnie,

Thank you for your post. The LM77CIM-5 can be used with 3.3V, but the device was rated for accuracy around 5V. Using the LM77CIM-5 at another will voltage will typically result in 1°C/V loss in accuracy.

The same is true for the LM77CIM-3. It is rated at 3.3V for operation, but can operate at 5V with some loss in accuracy.
