How about vital signs measurement and people counting at home or inside a building. I assume that the newer 60GHz parts may be a better all round solution here?

Thanks for the info. However, I imagine that the 60ghz parts will need sometime to mature. Therefore, the next question is can we use the 77/79ghz parts for non automotive applications in europe?
I also assume that prolonged exposure doesn't affect human health?
There is also work being carried out on the next generation if wifi that uses the 60ghz band. How will this affect performance??

Hi Sanjeev,
77-81GHz is only permitted for automotive and level sensing applications. 76-77GHz is permitted for fixed infrastructure installation. We recommend verifying your specific application with ETSI directly to confirm.
For health effect, it's limited power output in grand scheme of things and is already accounted in mass deployment of sensors in automotive. For more detailed answer, please see this topic: Is IWR1443 EM wave harmful to human body?.
