LDC1000: LDC1000

Part Number: LDC1000

Hello TI Team,

I am using LDC1000 as sensor for detecting a target of almost 35mm thickness with a distance of at least 35mm. I am able create a design if my own and interface LDC with my microcontroller. I am using a insulated copper winding(47 uH) with almost 30 mm diameter along with 300 pf capacitor to rig up a frequency of almost 1 MHz. Till today i was getting good difference in sensing range of proximity value(Rp) for a distance of 35mm. I have completed my application design with the same but suddenly the reading value of proximity data have become uncertain and i am not able to sense the target at 35mm. I mean to say that the sensing range and the variation in proximity value has suddenly reduced to 70% lesser than before. Please help me with rectifying this and advise me what kind of coil(Copper Winding) needs to be used for best achieving of 35mm distance target. Kindly explain why there is a drastic change in the proximity readings even with the same hardware used.

P.S - I have used LDC1101 before, but could not achieve fast switching response of detectable target.

  • Hi Srinidhi,
LDC1000 is capable of both Rp and L measurements. Rp measurements are known to fluctuate more than L measurements due to environmental changes. Can you try L measurement to see if that resolves your issue? Also please refer to our calculator tool, for quick useful calculations related to design: www.ti.com/.../slyc137.
