TMP235: TMP235 and LM50

Hi,

Is it true that the only difference between TMP235 and LM50 is the voltage supply range?

The output voltage vs. temperature equation seems to be the same, and the accuracy is almost the same.

And is it true that we should promote TMP235 instead of LM50 as long as the customer is using 5V or 3.3V to power the temperature sensor?

I can't see any reason to use LM50 instead of TMP235.

    Hi Howard,

    Thanks for your question.

    You're correct on all accounts here. The TMP235 is functionally equivalent to the LM50 with the exception of supply voltage range, and a better accuracy specification (on the A2 version). The same is true for the automotive versions of these parts as well (TMP235-Q1 and LM50-Q1).

    Unless the supply voltage prohibits it, I would always recommend using the TMP235.
