Hi team,
I designed a sensor coils for LDC1614 and found that the sensor output value from each sensor inputs have some offset due to
the difference in distance from LDC1614 inputs to each sensors.
It looks the difference in the length of the path causes the difference in L of the sensors.
I would like to calibrate this offset by placing a capacitor (MLCC) in parallel to the sensor (input to LDC1614).
Is there any concern to calibrate using parallel capacitor to the sensor coil?
regards,
Hello,
I would not recommend using an additional capacitor to remove this offset. First, the capacitors will have some tolerance, which will already introduce some small amount of offset in both the regular LC tank and the additional capacitor. Second, the physical differences in the coils will likely cause differences in the change in inductance over temperature, so the additional capacitor will not fix the offset over temperature.
Instead, I recommend using the OFFSETx registers to solve this issue.
Best Regards,
