TMP235: Ambient temps only?

Hello,

I have a quick question about choosing the proper temperature sensor. Is the TMP 235 primarily for sensing ambient temperatures? If I am looking to measure the temperature of a switching device on my pcb, would it be better to use a TMP 61, or some other sensor?

Hi,

The TMP235 can be used for monitoring PCB temperature. Different PCB design guidelines should be considered whether you are measuring ambient temperature or PCB board temperature. For best performance for board temperature sensing you want to create a good thermal path from the device you are monitoring and a poor thermal path to everything else including the ambient air if possible. Thank you. What is the difference between the TMP 235 and the TMP 61? Also, do either have a DAP? If not, what is the best way to make sure these sensors are thermally coupled to the device which temperature I am trying to measure?
