TMP235: vs. TMP61

Hello,

What is the difference between TMP 235 and TMP61? Do both have a Die-attach Pad (DAP)? If not, what is the best way to make sure that these devices are thermally coupled to the device which temperature I'm hoping to measure?

    By die attach pad do you mean a thermal pad that is soldered onto the board for better thermal conductivity? The TMP235 and the TMP61 both do not have thermal pads. Heat is conducted to the device mostly through the leads. You can see the different package options at the end of their respective datasheets in the Mechanical, Packaging, and Orderable Information section.

    Just because they do not have thermal pads does not mean they are not suitable for PCB temperature sensing.  Both are very suitable for board temperature sensing.

    TMP61 and TMP235 are different types of temperature sensors.  The TMP61 is a PTC thermistor while the TMP235 is an analog output temperature sensor.   You can read more about the different types of temperature sensors here in our ebook or watch some of our precision labs videos here.  The collateral mentioned in this post should help you design your board so they are thermally coupled to the device you wish to monitor.
