DRV5015: DRV5015 Application Question.

Part Number: DRV5015

Hi Sir,

My customer using DRV5015 and concept is shielding 2 sides of DRV5015. it shows as attach.

They would like to knows what angles range will let it on, do you have idea if we can calculate that?

Thanks, Ian.Hall Sensor + Shielding-0721.zip

  • Hi Ian,

Thanks for reaching out. As you know the DRV5015 is sensitive to the magnetic field component that is perpendicular to the top of the package. As seen in figure 11 of the datasheet. From closed lid to max angle open lid your customer needs to make sure that the perpendicular component of the magnetic field present at the top of hall sensor IC package of the device is above the triggering thresholds for your desired response, Bop and Brp. The magnet type, dimensions and placement will all  have an effect on the magnitude of the magnetic field seen by the latch. Also, the shielding if made out of a ferromagnetic material will affect the DRV5015 response, this would have to be considered  as well. We do have some calculation tools that you can use, one of them is on the product folder but this assumes a magnet moving in the axis of sensitivity of the IC. We dont have a tool to calculate the angle of the lid as you show in your diagram but we have some alternative tools your customer can look into.
