IWR1443BOOST: Not supported in mmWave Demo Visualizer

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, IWR1642, MMWAVE-SDK, IWR6443, IWR1843, IWR6843

Hi,

I'm returning to working with the mmWave sensors (IWR1443 and IWR1642) after about a 2 year absence. I downloaded the latest Demo Visualizer (3.4.0), but the IWR1443 doesn't seem to be supported. What is the reason for this?

Thanks!

  • Hi c_64

The IWR1443 Out of Box Demo uses a separate visualizer and also is only supported by mmWave-SDK 2.1- LTS.

Also keep in mind that the IWR1443 had another silicon revision in late 2018 and you will want to be using ES3.0 silicon. You can find out how to distinguish in the device errata page.

  • Thank you. Just a quick follow-up: does this mean that the IWR1443 is being phased out in the long run? For my application I can use both the 1443 and 1642, so would you recommend one instead of the other in that case?

  • Hi c_64

Neither is being phased out but I the recommended part would be according to your application. For power sensitive applications I would recommend the IWR1443 or IWR6443 (77 GHz vs. 60 GHz variants)

For most other applications I would recommend IWR1843 or IWR6843 (again 77 vs. 60) with particular emphasis on IWR6843 as it is our main sensor for the industrial space.

If you'd like to discuss this in more detail then please open up a new thread.

    Regards,

    AG
