AWR1642BOOST-ODS: Heatmap calculation - Obstacle Detection Reference Design Using 77-GHz mmWave Sensor

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST-ODS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDEP-0104

Dear team,

I don't quite understand how the Range-Elevation angle heat-map and Range-Azimuth angle heat-map are calculated.
The white paper "TIDEP-0104" describes the algorithm used for this as covariance beamforming or Capon
beamforming. Which of the two algorithms is used as standard?
As input the algorithm receives the result of the Range-FFT.

Do you have further literature/tutorials for me, which could help me understand the algorithm?

Thanks in advance and best regards
Michael Kainzbauer
