LM96163: Maximum Allowable Junction Temp

Part Number: LM96163

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Datasheet for LM96163 specifies Junction temperature to 125C and Storage temperature to be −65°C to +150°C.

Is 125C the Absolute  Junction temperature? If it is, then what's the Maximum Allowable Junction Temperature?

Thanks in advance!

Art

  • Hi Art,

I am not sure what you are trying to differentiate between Absolute Junction Temperature and Maximum Allowable Junction temperature.

The 125 °C is the Absolute Maximum Junction temperature of the device.

    Thanks,
    David

  • Hello David,

The customer wanted to stay away from the absolute maximum junction temperature, however, we would like to have an idea about what is the max junction temperature they could operate in without affecting the part reliability.

     Hope this clarifies it

    Thanks!

  • Hi Art,

We cannot guarantee anything other than what is in the datasheet.  Please see footnotes for Operating Ratings and Absolute Maximum Ratings for clarifications on the ratings meanings.

"Absolute Maximum Ratings indicate limits beyond which damage to the device may occur. Operating Ratings indicate conditions for which the device is functional, but do not guarantee performance limits. For guaranteed specifications and test conditions, see the Electrical Characteristics. The guaranteed specifications apply only for the test conditions listed. Some performance characteristics may degrade when the device is not operated under the listed test conditions"

    Thanks,
    David
