AWR6843AOPEVM: Connecting to the target in the mmWave Demo Visualizer

Part Number: AWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR6843AOP, UNIFLASH

Hi.

I have a problem connecting the device to the  mmWave Demo Visualizer.

I'm using:

1. AWR6843AOPEVM ES 2.0

2. mmWave Demo Visualizer 3.5.0

3. I see the  Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 2 Ports: Enhanced & Standard in the device manager.  I'm configuring the 115200 to the enhanced and the 921600 to the standard.

I get the message:

But it doesn't connecting...:(

I'll be glad for some help.

Thanks,

Boaz

  • Hello Boaz,

It looks like the images didn't upload. Can you please attach them again? Note: copy/paste won't work, you need to use the insert media button.

Also, please ensure you have the OOB demo binary file loaded on the device when trying to connect.

    Regards,

    Jackson

  • Hi Jackson,

    The images are attached.

Of course, the unit was loaded with the prebuilt binary of the OOB demo.

  • Can you please confirm which binary you have loaded, and which Toolbox version and SDK you have downloaded?

Also, please ensure the device is in functional mode after flashing. This can cause the problems you see.

    Regards,

    Jackson

  • C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_5_1\labs\out_of_box_demo\68xx_aop_mmwave_sdk_hwa\prebuilt_binaries\xwr64xxAOP_mmw_demo.bin

After flashing the device I have switched the SOP from flashing to functional mode.

    Regards,

    Boaz

  • Can you please confirm you are using Google Chrome? And have reset the device after switching to functional mode? Followed all the instructions the user guide for this project? I know this is probably what you are following but just making sure.

Is this a new device and you are trying to connect for the first time, or has it worked in the past?

  • Hi,

    I'm using google Chrome.

I'm resetting the device before flashing.

Th device has worked in the past but sometimes didn't connect so each time I had to reset it again.

Now it doesn't connect at all.

I saw this problem had occurred to other people as well in the forum, but there was no solution.

    Thanks,

    Boaz

  • Ok I got it. Seems like the HW should be fine then.

Can you connect/flash the device through CCS?

Have you tried the following assortment of debugging in case something went wrong with the flashing/drivers/browser and to help isolate the problem?

    • Restart the PC
    • reflash the device
    • download the visualizer for offline use
    • flash the DSP version of the AOP OOB demo
    • flash a different project and try connecting through that visualizer
  • Hi Jackson,

I'm following the SDK instructions regarding the AWR6843AOP flashing

and I can't flash the device using the uniflash.

The process is being stuck in this stage:

I have power cycled the device before flashing and also pushed the nrst button.

I also made sure that all the SOP are in the right state.

    Thanks,

    Boaz

  • Hi Boaz,

Were you able to get the visualizer to connect? Three things to try for the uniflash issue.

    1) Is there a flashpythonsubprocess.exe running in task manager? If there is please try ending this task then trying again.

    2) If that does not work, please try using the web version of Uniflash to load the program.

    3) If that still will not work, please try building the project in Code Composer Studio and flashing through CCS.

Please let me know if any of these suggestions help or you still face issues.

    Regards,

    Jackson
