Hi Team,
Good day.
Customer is asking for the "active area dimension" of DRV5055.
According to them, they have a sine wave form of magnetic flux density and they are trying to measure the flux density of a specific point.
Basically, according to them they want to try to minimize actual detecting area. Is this possible? If yes, what should be done to minimize the detecting area?

Also, just to confirm, can you elaborate on what you mean by the active area dimension of the DRV5055? Are you referring to the sensing area of the device, or are you referring to anything specific to the actual field?

I am the customer Mr. Yago referred to.
About the magnet, we have a linear magnetic material.
Along the material, the polarity of the magnetic field is N-S-N-S-N...
So from above, we should detect a sine wave form of magnetic field.
At the wave peak, let's say it's at the middle of the N polarity. At the valley, it's the middle of S.
As for the sensing area.
I would like to sense at a specific single point along the linear magnetic material.
I hope the actual sensing area/district of the device is as small as possible, so that the signal won't be disturbed or averaged out by nearby magnetic field.
So the interest is the actual detecting/sensing area/district/range/dimension of the DRV5055 device.

Hello Mr. Mesganaw,
Here is a diagram just like our system:
Unlike the diagram, we use hall sensor instead of MR sensor.
And similar to the diagram, our gaps between S and N polarities are 1mm.
So we'd like the measure unit to be as small as possible, better as small as 20 micrometer.
As for the direction, we'd like to ask for both single-axis hall sensor and three-axis hall sensor.

Can you also tell me the distance from the magnetic belt to the sensor? Additionally, what is the strength/grade of the magnetic material?

The distance would be 0.1mm~1.5mm
The strength is within 1000 Gauss.

Hi Mr. Chen,
When the sensor is near the pole boundary, you may see worse accuracy. Using a multi-axis hall sensor like the TMAG5170 may help in this case. For the TMAG5170, you will need to note where are the locations of the sensor elements within the TMAG5170 device with respect to the magnet, which is shown in Figure 3 of the TMAG5170 datasheet.
