TMP235: TMP235 Self Heating Spec

Part Number: TMP235
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP117

I am looking for a spec for self heating for the TMP235 temperature sensor.

  • Hi Chris,

There's no self-heating spec for temperature sensors. We have some information on self-heating for the TMP117, because it is a 0.1C accurate device. In that device, certain configurations show 10-70 milliCelsius (0.01-0.07C) of positive error due to self-heating. There is no concern about TMP235 failing to meet its 1C max spec due to self-heating.

If you have a specific application that you're concerned about, please let us know how we can better serve you.

    thanks,

    ren

  • Hi Ren,

Thanks for the response. I am working with a chemical distributor in specifying thermal transfer compounds for our application and we need to know what to expect in regards to self heating. I am expecting this to be extremely low.

    Can you offer any information?

    Thanks,

    Chris

  • Chris,

TMP235 is specified to supply up to 500uA output current. The quiescent current is only 17uA max, worst case. The self-heating is going to be dominated by the output current and output load you attach.

    thanks,
