TMP300: TMP300 Heater Circuit Design

Part Number: TMP300

Dear Team,

My customer is thinking about using TMP300 to design a heater circuit.

They want heater working during -40C~5C and they don't like hysteresis circuit.

Do you have any ideas on how to implement by TMP300, or do you have better ideas?

If I understand the question correctly, the customer wants the device to trip when temperature goes below 5C but without the hysteresis?

Yes, you are correct.

Because base on their experience, with hysteresis will cause the heater to turn on and off too frequently.

Do you have any suggest circuit?

Hello Kevin,

On the contrary the Hysteresis prevents the action of turning ON and OFF frequently. Consider the case that the temperature causes the Tset point and the output trips. Now if there was no hysteresis then the output will trip frequently around the Tset point. On the other hand with hysteresis, the temperature would need to drop below hysteresis value set for the output to change.

I am not sure why the customer seems to think that hysteresis would make it trip frequently. Please clarify.

Attached is a rough mock-up. The Blue line shows that the output will become low when the temperature crosses 5 degC and will become high only when the temperature falls below 0 deg C
