TMP75: Timing spec for 100kHz I2C standard mode

Part Number: TMP75

Hello E2E,

Do we have timing spec of i2c in standard mode 100kHz in TMP75 while TMP75 d/s has fast and high-speed mode timing spec?

Sincerely,

Jason

  • Hi Jason,

The fast mode timing as described in section 6.6 of the datasheet applies for any I2C communication at 100kHz. The TMP75 will work in a standard mode system, provided the timing requirements (including hold time) below are met, and the SCL frequency is above 1kHz.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Best Regards,
    Brandon Fisher

  • Hello Brandon,

In the section 6.6, the frequency range of High-Speed mode could also cover 100kHz frequency, but both timing spec are totally different especially on Tr and Tf.

Could you guide us which one customer should follow and why?

    Sincerely,

    Jason

  • Hi Jason,

The High-speed mode specifications are more restrictive just to account for the higher frequencies. You can operate at 100 kHz by meeting the fast-mode specification from that table.

Edit: I should also note that the high speed mode on these parts is described in section 7.3.2.7, and includes changes to the output filter that make those timing specs applicable.

    Best Regards,
