TMCS1101: AC current

Hi team,

We would like to have AC current measurement solution for max 32A.

What's the TMCS1101 max measurement current?

If it's not suitable, any other suggestions?

    Hello Zoe,

    Thanks for reaching out on the forum.  Our datasheet shows the max recommended current to be at 30A due to thermal reasons.  This value is guard banded, yet is the highest value we will guarantee.  Additionally this number corresponds to using the EVM layout.  Less board copper and smaller input traces will affect how much heat is pulled out of the device and possibly lower the max current.  Alternatively, if your customer makes more thermal optimizations such as adding a fan or heat sink they might be able to push more current.  To determine how much they can measure, they could use a characterization technique described in this application report.
