TI-RSLK Max Kit Chassis board power switch issues

I was working on lab using the TI-RSLK Max Kit and when I tried using the slide on/off switch on the chassis board, it came off. The robot still seems to run when I used the debugging software however a possibly defective on/off switch is concerning. I would like to know if the chassis can be replaced before I have to order another robot kit. I would have put a part number in this post but I could not seem to find one that this site recognizes.

Hi Karl,

Thanks for the post. You should be able to power on and off the robot using the Power button, however I'm not sure how the operation works with the ON/OFF switch. Let me know if the robot stays on or stays off and if the power button is still functional. The power button is the preferred operation for turning the robot chassis on and off. The ON/OFF switch is part of a separate power circuit but is a common point of confusion.

The Chassis board can be replaced. You can find the replacement hardware on Pololu. www.pololu.com/product/3671

You can also fine the schematic under the Resources tab of the Pololu product page.

The robot still works I guess seeing as I could use the debugging software at https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/1766484/RSLK_Debug/ver/2.0.1/ and make the robot move with it. However I am unsure on whether or not the on/off switch is necessary for programming/operating the robot in general.

Hi Karl,

ok that's good. Can you test if the POWER button still works when you disconnect the robot from the USB cable? If so then the ON/OFF button will not be necessary for your practical uses.

The robot can still be turned on and off with the power button when disconnected from the USB. When the power button is depressed, a solid green and blue LED come on with a pulsing red LED

Ok very good. So I think it should be fine to continue without the ON/OFF switch or making any attempt to repair.
