TMUX1309-Q1: How to use this IC for I2S

Part Number: TMUX1309-Q1

Hi all,

I would like to know if TMUX1309-Q1 can be used as an I2S multiplexer. Typically, I2S uses 3 lines, such as data, clock and word select. If 2 of TMUX1309-Q1 is used, are you able to use TMUX1309-Q1 as a 1:4 multiplexer? Or is 1 of TMUX1309-Q1 enough?

Regards,
RYO

  • Hi RYO,

For the I2S, all three line will be used at the same time for proper communication.

Could you help understand how many output lines you need to be able to mux the main input signal i.e. how many peripheral systems? For example, if you have 4 peripherals, you need a 1:4 Mux. if you have 8 peripherals we will have to use 1:8 mux.

Also, I understand this is for automotive application.

Once you help to clarify above, we can recommend the best device.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
    Sandesh

  • Hi Sandesh,

Thank you for your reply. 1:4 and automotive-qualified part is needed.

  • Hi RYO,

In that case they will need 2x, TMUX1309-Q1 devices. Something like below.

The device will meet the frequency requirements and make sure the drop across the switch is taken into calculation. This will depend on the driver current through the switch and the switch resistance.

The control signals (A0, A1 & EN/) can be tied together for both the chip.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
