TMUX1574: Does TMUX1574 support I3C

Part Number: TMUX1574

Dear team,

Does TMUX1574 support I3C/ 3.3V level?

I find a FAQ below, and based on the post, TMUX1574 should be good for I3C/ 3.3V application.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/switches-multiplexers-group/switches-multiplexers/f/switches-multiplexers-forum/1063484/faq-what-analog-switch-multiplexer-should-i-use-for-i3c-applications

Please let me know if there are risk for this application.

Regards,

Ben

  • Hey Ben,

I don't see a reason why TMUX1574 shouldn't be able to support i3C signal pass through. The On-Capacitance is low so you won't be dedicating too much of the allotted bus capacitance on the mux alone. 3.3V is supported by TMUX1574 and your RON is low so the signal won't be distorted.
The reason a device like this isn't highlighted as an "I3C" mux is that it's a 4 channel device, while I3C is a 2-wire protocol. So there would be 2 unused channels. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing and doesn't make the device unusable. You could even use it to mux two different I3C buses through one device if that's what you're looking for!

If you do use this device for I3C and you are planning on leaving the other two channels unused, you don't necessarily need to terminate the unused I/O's since the frequency won't be too high (12MHz max).

    Thanks,
    Rami
